Team Spotlight: Vanita Jogani, Senior International Accounts Manager
“As the research industry grows, particularly in fields like oncology, the demand for biospecimens is increasing. Our biospecimens are crucial for conducting this research.” – Vanita Jogani, MSc.
Vanita Jogani is BioChain’s Senior International Account Manager. She has earned Master’s degrees in bioinformatics, molecular biology, and microbiology from universities in India and the United States. Ms. Jogani is the connective tissue between BioChain and its international contacts and distributors. She discusses her experience with BioChain and growing her role as a relationship-builder and educator.
How would you describe your journey before starting at BioChain?
Ms. Jogani: I started at BioChain in October 2019 as a sales representative; I’ve been working here for about three and a half years. My journey getting here has been a bit of a winding path.
In 2005, I did my Master’s in bioinformatics from India; in 2008, I came to the United States. I then earned a second Master’s in molecular biology and microbiology at San Jose State University. It was during my graduate work that I gained a lot of diverse work experiences: I was a research associate, I was a tutor, I was a teaching associate. All sorts of things.
And then, after graduating from San Jose, I had to take some time off for maternity leave, during which I chose to take a break from looking for jobs or doing any research work. It was only after that that I started applying again, this time for industry jobs. That’s how I got in touch with BioChain as a sales rep – the rest is history, as they say!
What led you to your role as Senior International Accounts Manager?
Ms. Jogani: I began my journey at BioChain as an Inside Sales Representative and, within six months, I was promoted to Account Manager. In my current role, I manage and activate our international accounts and oversee the marketing of our services to our numerous distributors. Essentially, I am a relationship-builder and educator. I connect with customers, understand their needs, and provide them with tailored solutions through BioChain's products and services.
Reflecting on BioChain’s 30th anniversary, what does your role at this company mean to you?
Ms. Jogani: I started small here and have really been given the room to excel and to demonstrate my capacity for more. I think that kind of reflects the company’s own journey.
I’m very grateful to BioChain for allowing me to come on board after a maternity break and zero work experience in the USA. I was given a platform and a lot of support from the BioChain team to learn and grow. You see, BioChain is a small company, and it’s always felt more like a family than just a workplace. If you get stuck somewhere, everyone is willing to come and help you – it’s very collaborative, instead of competitive.
In addition to the collaborative work culture, what is something about the BioChain team that has stood out to you?
Ms. Jogani: In addition to the collaborative work culture, something that has stood out to me about the BioChain team is their remarkable ability to recognize and nurture potential in individuals. When I started, I had limited sales experience, but my eagerness to learn and grow was evident. BioChain’s supportive environment and forward-thinking vision enabled me to quickly acquire the necessary skills and excel in my role. The opportunities I’ve been given to develop and achieve significant milestones mean a great deal to me.
You’re clearly someone who is very dedicated to their work. Are there any projects BioChain has on the horizon that you’re particularly excited about?
Ms. Jogani: There is a lot to learn and achieve ahead of us. I aim to continue expanding our list of global distributors and collaborate with more CROs and pharmaceutical companies. My expertise lies in biospecimens, which are BioChain’s core strength, and I am excited about our potential to make significant inroads into the pharmaceutical market.
We handle two categories of orders: standard products available on our website, such as biospecimens and extraction kits, and custom services, including spatial multiomics, extractions, TMA construction, whole slide imaging, and more.
This year, I plan to intensify our outreach and marketing efforts for these orders, as I believe there is substantial room to enhance our visibility and presence in the global life sciences market.
Are there any projects you personally will be focusing on in this coming year that you’re looking forward to?
Ms. Jogani: I want to further strengthen my relationships with our distributors and expand our distributor network. I'm envisioning initiatives like webinars and educational outlets to maintain virtual connections and drive even greater progress this year. As the research industry grows, particularly in fields like oncology, the demand for biospecimens is increasing. Our biospecimens are crucial for conducting this research.
We've been heavily investing in spatial multiomics, which we see as a major frontier for cancer and disease research. Despite its digital nature, spatial multiomics relies on the quality and diversity of our biospecimens—a significant strength of ours. That’s why I am dedicated to ensuring BioChain keeps pace with this growth and meets the rising demand.
What about BioChain’s adoption of spatial biology excites you?
Ms. Jogani: Spatial is a highly challenging frontier, and BioChain has boldly embraced that challenge. We strongly believe in its value and potential as an incredible tool for scientific progress. Because of this belief, our entire team is fully committed to strategically engaging with this frontier.
I am confident in our ability to demonstrate the effectiveness of spatial technologies. We have the necessary expertise and capacity. I am proud to be part of this initiative and am certain that it will become a success story.
Ms. Jogani, thank you so much for sharing your BioChain journey with us today; it was a pleasure speaking with you.
Ms. Jogani: Thank you as well!
